Bunco Night is sponsored by the Ladies’ Night Out group. It is held annually in September. Reservations need to be made in advance. Each year, a charity (or two) is selected, and all ticket and raffle sales benefit that organization.
On the week after Mother’s Day, St. John’s conducts an annual garage sale in the Christian Community Center next to the church from Thursday-Saturday. Donated items are accepted Monday-Wednesday before the sale. All proceeds are used to improve the facilities of St. John’s.
St. John’s Golf outing was originally started in the 1990s. After a several year hiatus, it resumed in 2014. For those that do not golf, there is a dinner-only option. There are many opportunities for raffles and great prizes. One hundred percent of the proceeds are designated to restore/protect the stained glass windows at St. John’s.
St. John’s provides a safe and fun environment for Halloween trick-or-treaters to receive candy from the decorated trunks of cars in the church’s parking lot. Games and beverages area usually also available.
St. John‘s Annual Turkey Dinner is held the first Saturday in November each year. This community wide event usually serves about 800 dinners, including some 200 carry-outs. We cook 750 pounds of turkey, 300 pounds of potatoes, stuffing, green beans, coleslaw, rolls and pie. Each year, the profit goes toward a designated project or missions of the church.
